Thelma Eakin Coming into our class

Yesterday Thelma Eakin (the author of the book we just read) came into our class to tell us and answer our questions about her book. the book was called "the mines afire" and it was about the brunner mine disaster, it is a diary from one of the character tommy Carter who is a made up boy who lives with his Father and Mother, his Dad is a carpenter for the mine site. When they all hear explosions every single man ran into the mines to rescue their friends. But none of them lived.

My Hobbies

My favorite hobby that I do is Motorbiking. Me my Dad, My dad's friend, my friend and his Dad travel all over the south island going to events where you ride through paddicks up and down hill steeper than you have ever seen. At the moment I ride a KTM SX 85cc 2018 Two Stroke, My Dad rides a Beta 350cc 2019 4 Stroke. My Dad's friend rides a 2018 Beta 350cc 4 Stroke. If I could change 3 things about the world what would they be and why?

1. The first thing i would change is the plastic in the ocean and on our land. did you know that there are over 5 Million animals that die each year because of our plastic that's about 15,000 per day 
and if we don't do anything about it all of marine life will die by the year 2075.

2. I would stop world hunger as my second thing. have you ever felt so hungry you could die? well that's what over 800 Million people are feeling ever day. and over 10 Million people die each year from suffering world hunger.

3. Last but not least I would cure cancer did you know that over 600,000 people each year die from cancer, that nearly 2,000 every day.

Today we read the part of The Mines Afire where it is the day after the explosion and tommy's Father nearly dies from the afterdamp trying to save his friends.
